View statistics and privacy

The eye icon shows page views, not unique people or completed reads. A reload is a new view; duplicate reports for one opening count once.

A random first-party browser identifier is kept locally for up to 90 days to estimate unique browsers. The server stores a site-specific HMAC digest, not an account identity. Different devices, browsers, private sessions or cleared storage can produce new identifiers.

Counters retain page/date aggregates and coarse source categories. Idempotency receipts expire after about 48 hours; daily pseudonymous sightings cover 90 calendar days and are periodically pruned. This counter does not store raw IPs, full referrer URLs, email addresses, device fingerprints or click histories. Cloudflare hosting request processing and backup retention are separate.

Sources use utm_source / utm_medium tags or an available external referrer hostname. Tags do not verify the actual platform. Missing sources remain Direct / Unknown. Internal navigation in a tab can inherit the entry source within a 30-minute activity window.

The control below affects this first-party counter in the current browser. Opting out removes its local identifier and switches to read-only counts; existing aggregates are not rewritten. The counter also respects Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control signals.

Cloudflare Web Analytics is separately used for performance diagnostics; this control does not change its configuration. UV counts identifiable browsers, not cross-device unique people.
